These are photos I took in Washington. In the first photo, the magnolias are opening just in time, and although the epidemic has begun to spread, there is no sign of tension in the city.
Bruce is the guy with the bicycle helmet

Bruce and I met in a funny way when I asked for help from the Writing Center at the library and ended up mistaking him for a Writing Center employee; Bruce was actually a professor in a graduate writing class, but said he would be happy to help me. After this, he invited me to go on a trip to Washington, D.C. with him, since I told him I didn’t have any plans for spring break.

Although the outbreak was just beginning, there were already some cases of infection in Washington. Many of my friends had cancelled their trips because of the outbreak. Although I knew going to Washington would be risky, I chose to go with Bruce because my roommate was home and my spring break would have been very boring if I didn’t hang out.
